Weaving History

The rich history of weaving traces back more than 12 000 years, which makes it one of the oldest crafts in the world. Weaving, at its core, is a very simple concept of production. It consists of interlocking vertical threads with horizontal threads, combining them together to form a sheet of fabric that has a good amount of stregth to it. Back in the day, one of the more traditional uses for weaving was very primitve. this included uses like fences, shelters, baskets ect. When it evolved, people started weaving threads to make fabrics, this was initialy done by hand, which was a time consuming process.Nowadays, technology has made this process a lot easier with machines to speed up the processes. Historically, weaving was a popular craft amongst families, weaving their own fabrics to use as blankets but it has since become a much more specialised craft, which lead to the start of the weaving industry. In the 1700's the flying shuttle was invested, which sped up the weaving process. weaving is now done on a commercial scale with automated machines that do it faster and more efficiantly than any handmade craft. hand made textiles are far and few between but still exists in our bustling society for those who are interested in a more traditional fabric sense.
